Capcom delays Pragmata to 2023 ‘to ensure it will be an unforgettable adventure’
New artwork for the game has also been released
Capcom has delayed Pragmata‘s release from next year to 2023.
“Our team is hard at work on the project, but to ensure this will be an unforgettable adventure, we’ve decided to shift the release window to 2023,” it said on Thursday.
“In the meantime, we have a brand new artwork to share with you. Thank you for your patience.”
Previously scheduled for release in 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, the adventure game is set in a dystopian near-future on Earth’s Moon.
“Our development team is hard at work on this brand new game title, making full use of new next-gen tech, such as ray-tracing, to create a breathtaking and immersive sci-fi setting like never before,” Capcom said when the title was announced in June 2020.
Pragmata will be Capcom’s first completely new IP made for consoles and released worldwide since 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma (2016’s Megami Meguri was a Japan-only release).
Capcom corporate officer Ryozo Tsujimoto told VGC in 2019 that the company was “not giving up” on the idea of creating new original game series, despite its recent focus on core franchises like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil.
In April 2021, a Game Developers Conference survey found that almost half of developers had seen their game suffer delays as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On Wednesday, the upcoming Saints Row reboot was delayed by six months to August 2022.
